Enough Points Is Not Enough to Pass
Every one of these certificates carries a second condition, and across the seven formats there are only three of them. Yours is one of the three, and it is the one people usually find out about from the letter.
Every module has to pass on its own

There is no overall total on this certificate, so there is nothing to hide a weak module behind. Ninety-five in Lesen does precisely nothing for a fifty-five in Schreiben.

Clearing the total is not the end of it. You have to clear both halves as well, which is why this is the rule that catches anyone treating Sprechen as a friendly chat at the end of the morning.

A Modellsatz PDF Can’t Start the Clock
You can read the official sample set twice and still have no idea whether you’ll finish Lesen inside the minutes they give you. That isn’t a German problem. It’s a room problem, and it’s the cheapest one you have, because you can have the room tonight.
Die Uhr
Each module runs on its own countdown, the minutes your paper really gives you. Meet that at your kitchen table on a Tuesday, not at nine in the morning on the day.
Der Bogen
Your answers go on an answer sheet laid out like the booklet’s. Finding the row for question 23 while the clock runs is its own small skill.
Das Hören
A separate voice for each speaker, so a dialogue sounds like two people. It plays the number of times your paper allows, then the button goes dead.
Die Reihenfolge
Module after module, in the order the paper sets, with no skipping to the part you are good at.

Goethe B1 and telc B1 Are Not the Same Exam
Goethe A1 and telc A1 are one paper, jointly developed, so sitting it once covers both certificates. Everything else genuinely differs. telc B1 runs five subtests including Sprachbausteine on a single scale out of 300, while Goethe B1 has no total at all and passes each module separately. Practising the wrong shape teaches you the wrong exam.

Questions People Actually Ask
Is this the real Goethe or telc exam?+
No, and nobody may sell you one. These are full mock papers in each format: the same parts in the same order, the same timings, the same answer sheet and the same scoring. The texts and questions are ours. Only Goethe-Institut and telc licensed centres can award a certificate.
How much of it is free?+
Set 1 of every exam format is free, including A1, so there is a complete free sitting for whichever exam you booked. The other sets for a level come with that level’s Course Pass at 9.99 euro one time, or with Pro.
Can it tell me whether I will pass?+
It tells you where you stand against the official scale, on a paper shaped like yours, under the real clock, and it applies your format’s actual pass rule rather than just counting points. What it cannot do is predict a day. Reading, listening and writing are all marked here. Sprechen is examined by a person on the day, so that is the one you mark yourself.
Is the listening real audio?+
It is recorded, with a separate voice for each speaker, so a conversation sounds like two people rather than one narrator doing both parts. It plays the number of times your format allows and then stops. If a clip fails to load, playback falls back to your browser’s speech so the sitting is not ruined by a bad connection.
My exam is in ten days. Is it too late for this to help?+
No. One full sitting still fits, and ten days is plenty to fix a timing problem or learn an answer sheet, which is where most of the avoidable points go. What ten days will not do is move you a level, so spend them on the paper rather than on new vocabulary.
What happens if I run out of time?+
The same thing that happens in the hall. Each module has its own countdown, the audio plays a fixed number of times and then stops, and when the clock runs out the module ends and the paper moves on. There is a practice mode without the timer if you would rather work through it slowly first.
